The monastery grounds contain numerous graves of bishops and princes. You will also find beautifully preserved khachkars, which are traditional Armenian cross-stones. Seek out the intricately carved Grigor Tuteordu memorial cross-stone during your walk.

This graceful 12th-century stone footbridge spans the Debed River below the monastery. It is considered the oldest well-preserved bridge in Armenia. You will find it further down the gorge in Alaverdi, making it easy to view on your drive up or down.

This small museum is dedicated to Anastas and Artem Mikoyan. The famous Soviet aircraft designers were born in Sanahin village. Look for the original MiG-21 fighter jet displayed right outside the building.
